Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) gatekeeper training is an evidence-based suicide prevention strategy that occurs when a trusted adult intervenes with an individual on the brink of crisis. This training will aid school staff in learning the warning signs of those in crisis, how to offer hope to those in crisis, and how to get help & save a life.
Objectives: At the completion of the QPR training, participants will:
1. Understand suicide as a national and local public health problem,
2. Identify warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors contributing to suicidal ideation.
3. Understand and be able to utilize techniques for crisis intervention using the Question, Persuade, Refer model.
